This note is going to Environmental Studies, as well, because we discussed DDT and pesticides today. Today's notes are attached. The previous notes are in the Google Classroom and at www.pacificascience.org.
(Local Science tie in) When DDT was sprayed it, among other things, caused birds to lay very thin eggs. (Thus, "Silent" Spring - no birds - From the famous Rachel Carson book published in 1962.) Near San Bruno / Millbrae (near the reservoir) there have been sightings of a Bald Eagle this month! Over at Devil's Slide Trail there is a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcon currently ...
